bon voyage, wedding dress!

This weekend, I tried on my dress for the last time before the big day... it's cleaned, pressed, and ready to go. She will begin her journey to the island on Friday. Luckily, she will be traveling in style in her own upright closet so there will be minimal wrinkling (hopefully)!

She fits perfectly. Therefore, in no way can I gain or lose weight, in between my wedding day and my wedding celebration. This might be a problem since I was planning on gorging on our honeymoon.

Although I can't show you photos of my actual dress, here's a hint: it's from the Jasmine Haute Couture Fall 2009 line!

dress + shoes + veil = happiness!

from,via

Yesterday, I picked up my wedding dress. Trying on the "finished" version, I was terrified. What if the seamstress did the exact opposite (again) and took the dress in several inches instead of letting them out? What if it didn't zip? Is there such a thing as emergency rib removal surgery?

We had a helluva time zipping it up since there is so much excess fabric surrounding the zipper. The seamstress took 3 inches off each side and kept the fabric intact for resale purposes, plus having an invisible side zipper complicates things.(My mom is convinced the zipper is going to pull a kamikaze move moments before the wedding.) I slipped on my new shoes and veil. To complete the look, we decided to replace the cream ribbon that came with the dress with a deep navy. And for my something borrowed, my grandma's pearls.

The wedding dress ensemble is complete!

Going to a wedding shower today... It's impossible to have a wedding-free day, but I won't lie, I'll miss it when it's over!

another exciting weekend ahead!

It's been a crazy week! Last week was filled with the ending of the Twilight saga (back to the real world) and planning our big Engagement Party - from what I remember it was a success - I must try harder to stay in the moment!

We are going back home tomorrow to meet with my pastor to take a relationship assessment, do a cupcake tasting, buy wedding bands and I have my final dress fitting. It's alot to pack into one day, I just hope Andy can handle it!

I still haven't decided which shoes I'm going to wear, although I'm locked into a 2 1/2" heel since the hem on my dress is insane. Sorry Wishna!! Here's what I have in my possession right now:

typical boring silver sandals - at least they're comfy

these look really "old lady" on my feet:

and these are soo cute but probably an inch too tall... I haven't tried them on with the dress yet (or next to Andy):

On a slightly-related note...
love her hair, love his suit:

check!

I apologize for my absence... I won't really go into the main reason, but one reason is that I have been a busy lady!

Last weekend was quite a success, I bought the most perfect thank you notes, an ipod stereo to use for our SSI Reception (awesome/crazy story) and most importantly....

THE DRESS!

What a relief! It came down between two dresses - two very different dresses. The sales woman that was helping me had some excellent advice: "One of these dresses you can close your eyes and picture yourself walking down the aisle, dancing and smiling in... just close your eyes and you'll know."

And as lame as it felt, I did close my eyes... and the winner became clear.
She's perfect and we got to bring her home that day!

quest for the dress part trois

I am taking a road trip to another bridal shop this weekend... However, I might have found my dream dress on Craigslist assuming its still available, it fits, and its what they say it is.

wish me luck!

quest for THE dress #1

Over the weekend I stopped into David’s Bridal since it was the last day of their $99 sale. I’m sure where they keep those $99 dresses or what they must look like but the lowest priced dress I tried on was $450… still, not too bad.

I am looking fora sweetheart neckline with a mermaid/trumpet style and smallish train. Here’s what they brought me:

#1 - Grecian Goddess, super staticy and the front layers looked weird. I liked the shell-like "bodice" though.

#2 - Classy Kelly, this Oleg Cassini was gorgeous but a little too fancy for an outdoor/beach wedding. LOVE that lace on the bottom!

#3 - Pleats! Not so good.

#4 - Lovely Lady Lace, discontinued=good price, my favorite of the 5.

#5 - The Beast, this one was waaaay too big (note the sales clerk holding onto the extra fabric the clothes pins couldn't handle) and came with lace sleeves, ew.

They weren’t bad, but none of the dresses were “the one.” I wasn't expecting to find the right dress on the first try. Has ANYONE every bought the first dress they try on? I'm serious... anybody?

I’m off to The One Stop Wedding Shop on Saturday – wish me luck!

The Dress
I’ve set an appointment to go dress shopping with my mom. I have gone into a few bridal shops since the engagement, but I haven’t seen anything I like. I hope it goes well and doesn’t involve a mother-daughter meltdown… plus I refuse to pay full price so I will be getting my negotiation on. Not really sure what I like, but I haven’t seen it yet…

Shoes
I want a colorful shoe, but I’m not sure if heels will work well on the beach or lawn… without these little guys from Solemates.com! Score!

Here's my colorful shoe inspiration - not sure why I chose yellow, I'll probably go with navy or green...

Note the groom's socks... I'll be blogging about these later!

Project Runway - Wedding Dresses!

On last night's Project Runway, the contestants returned from their 2 months away with their collections - including a wedding dress and a coordinating bridesmaid dress! Below are Kenley's and Leanne's gowns- my two favorites.

Also, I'm considering dressing up as Kenley for Halloween.
